![]() It seems at times as though the recording industry is obsessed with the technology and working practises of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Harking back to an era when the camera never lied and the recording studio came pretty close, it sometimes seems as though timeless masterpieces were created effortlessly on a daily basis. It's all too easy to forget when we listen today that you probably had to be pretty good just to get in front of a mic, the engineer who was recording you was probably pretty good too (had to be to get round the limitations of that primitive equipment), the hardware they used cost more than your house, and over the intervening decades most of the not-so-good stuff has conveniently been lost or forgotten. So what's the answer in the 21st century? Easy, make plugins that look rusty!
