You've tried Eq, you've tried compression, you've tried harmonic enhancers and it's becoming horribly clear that the recording is just dull. What you need may be a bit of help from a sample library, but how do you get it to play along if you don't have a drum-replacement package like Trigger or Drumagog? This method may not be perfect but it should be good enough to deflect the blame; for a total outlay of £0! (providiing you've already bought all the gear you need - obviously!).
